Imagine waking up to the sound of the gentle waves, in your home by the seaside. Or better yet, in the former Italian residence of John Paul Getty, now owned by the renowned Pellicano Group.
Well this is exactly what it’s like when you open your eyes at La Posta Vecchia.
Constructed in 1640 as a guest house to the neighbouring Il Castello di Palo, the building of La Posta Vecchia has welcomed many people travelling in the area. After a fire in 1918, the property sat in ruins before bought by the American billionaire and brought back to life. During these renovations it was discovered that the building was erected on top of an ancient Roman villa, to which there is now a dedicate museum located in the hotel to the historical importance of the location.
Why we love it…
Because sometimes arriving in to Rome after a long haul flight can sometime be just as exhausting at your travels. Instead of heading into the city, travel an hour north of Fiumicino and you are a world away from the chaos of the city. Start (or end) your Italian adventure gently, ease you body and mind into your surrounding, and feel yourself relax into your new reality.
Why you’ll love it…
Step away from the crowds and the ordinary, and go back in time to the golden age of Roman summer life. The large suites will have you feeling like you own the property yourself, and there is nothing nicer than sipping on a cheeky spritz overlooking the newly constructed infinity pool.
