From a Sicilian wedding to a honeymoon through some of Italy’s most beautiful and under the radar hotels, no one did it better than Dua Lipa (and her new husband Callum Turner, of course).

It was the 26th of June when every Italophile sat glued to their Instagram, to see where this stylish couple travelled to and if we could work out each of the hotel locations.

For some, it really wasn’t a challenge.

So let’s see where the happy couple ventured on their Italian honeymoon:

The Route

  • Villa Paola

    Set along the Bay of the Gods, Villa Paola is just outside the (well known to the Italian traveller) seaside town of Tropea. Think impeccably blue waters and jaw dropping cliffs.

    Villa Paola has come a long way in recent years! There was no real luxury option in Calabria for a very long time, however with a beautifully done refurbishment, I can see why the happy couple broke up there road trip from Sicily here.

  • Palazzo Margherita

    The region of Basilicata is one of those “hidden in plain sight” gems of Italy. It has mountains, it has seaside, it has quiet towns and villages you have probably seen on postcards. The most famous of them all is Matera, but brave to the couple for branching out and staying somewhere off the beaten path.

    Palazzo Margherita is for me, up there as one of the best hotels in Italy. Located in the ancestral home of the film director Francis Ford Coppola, this 9 room and suite property will have you fully immersed in the traditions of Basilicata.

  • Villa TreVille

    There are countless luxury hotels along the Amalfi Coast, each bringing their own level of service and style the separates themselves from their neighbours. But one thing that truly defines Villa TreVille is their exclusivity.

    Perched on the Positano cliffs in the former private estate of director Franco Zeffirelli, Villa Treville pairs secluded, elegantly restored villas with sweeping Tyrrhenian Sea views and rooms like the Romeo e Giulietta suite designed for romance. With private beach access, a plunge-pool terrace suite, and attentive staff who make every stay feel personal, it offers honeymooners intimacy without isolation only minutes from Positano, yet a world apart.

  • Mezzatore Hotel & Spa

    Set on a private headland on Ischia (Capri's quieter, more laid-back neighbour), Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa is built around a 16th-century watchtower overlooking its own secluded bay. Guests can soak in thermal pools fed by the island's own healing hot springs, dine at the seaside pool restaurant, and unwind in a striped, sun-drenched retreat with a distinctly relaxed, unpretentious glamour. It's a favourite for honeymooners drawn to a quieter slice of Italy: private, restorative, and refreshingly low-key without sacrificing style.

  • Hotel Locarno

    Just off Piazza del Popolo, Hotel Locarno has been Rome's storied artistic hideaway since 1925, where Fellini once sketched scripts in the ivy-covered courtyard garden. Its Art Deco rooms—all gilded moldings, crystal chandeliers, and clawfoot tubs open onto a rooftop terrace with cinematic views over the city's domes. With vintage bicycles for exploring nearby Villa Borghese and an intimate, art-world atmosphere, it offers honeymooners old-world Roman romance just steps from the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo.

  • Hotel Il Pellicano

    When it comes to Italian hotels with a romantic history, Hotel Il Pellicano beats them all.

    Set on the Tuscan coast, this romantic hideaway was the place to get away from the world for socialites and Hollywood darlings in the Golden Age of cinema. It’s pure glamour, but in a classic understated Italian way.

  • La Posta Vecchia

    Without a doubt, my new favourite hotel in Italy!

    Located on the seaside not far from Rome, the former residence of John Paul Getty is the perfect place to enjoy life on the water. It is 5 star all the way, and an absolute experience that no honeymooner should pass up.

    It may still be under the radar to many, but with Dua’s photos in the bathtub (Medici suite) it won’t be long until the rest of the world catches on!
